Ebonyi Senator Flaggs Off Scholarship Scheme, Disburses N40m To Indigent Students
The Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi has flagged off his scholarship scheme by disbursing grant of forty million naira to indigent students in various Institutions of Higher learning in Ebonyi State and beyond.
Nwebonyi fagged off the scholarship scheme during his grand civic reception by his people at Mbeke Isheke, Ebonyi LGA of the state recently.
He explained that the scholarship scheme is aimed at ending the era of school drop -outs following inability of parents to pay school fees by ensuring rapid boost in Educational advancement of the state and the nation in general.
The Senator stressed on the importance of utilizing the funds solely for educational purposes, urging beneficiaries to uphold integrity and academic excellence.
He said that the scholarship disbursement was meticulously tailored to alleviate the financial burdens of students and it targeted various academic disciplines, including law, medicine, and post-graduate studies
“About 200 students today got their school fees. Those doing LLB law got 150.000 each, those doing medicine also got 150.000 each those in post-graduate studies got 200.000 while those students at their clinical stages at AE FUNAI who are on the verge of dropping out as a result of accumulated unpaid school fees got a total of six million seven hundred and twenty thousand naira if you put them together it will give you a total of forty million naira (#40m)”.
“What is our motive ? the motive is to guarantee our tomorrow because the best investment we can make is the investment in humans, we are having challenges today in society, social vices because those youths involved in the social vices are not educated if they had the opportunity to be educated probably they wouldn’t have indulged in social vices. we are making this intervention to make sure that no student drops out of school from Ebonyi North senatorial district”he stated.
Also, in the same event, the Senator distributed over hundred sewing machines and gigantic refrigerators to some members of his constituency.
He handed over the new sewing machines and gigantic refrigerators to the beneficiaries through his Senior Legislative Aide, shortly after the Civic reception organized in his honour .
While presenting the gifts to the beneficiaries, Senator Nwebonyi charged them to make good use of the items to better their lives.
He said that he is poised to eradicating poverty and illiteracy in Ebonyi North Senatorial District through massive empowerments, scholarships and distribution of modern farm inputs.
In their goodwill messages, some of the beneficiaries including Mr Ali Samuel, Mrs Esther Elom, Engr Nwogbodo Kelvin and Mrs Salome Onwe said that they were overwhelmed with joy by the unexpected kind gestures of the magnanimous Senator.
While appreciating the Senator for his relentless efforts in putting smiles on the faces of his people, they prayed God to bless him abundantly.
