Sultan Of Sokoto Confirms Sighting Of Ramadan Crescent, Says Fasting Begins Monday

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced Monday, March 11, 2024 as the first day of Ramadan.

This followed reports on the sighting of the new crescent from different parts of Nigeria.

The Sultan, however, urged Muslims to use the month for extra prayer for the leaders and the country.

He also urged them to dedicate themselves to the worship of Allah (SWA).

He equally called on the wealthy people to assist the vulnerable and poor in order to cushion the effect of hardship being experienced in the country.

“The Sultan felicitates with the entire Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming 1445AH Ramadan Fast,” a statement by the Sultan said.

He prayed that Allah spare the lives of every Muslim to participate in the exercise and to maximize the benefits therein.

A tweet by the Sultan earlier read: “The Sultanate has confirmed a single sighting claim and His Eminence the Sultan will soon make an announcement. Ramadan Mubarak.”
