Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Edgar Lungu, Mosima Gabriel ‘Tokyo’ Sexwale, Mathews Phosa, Peter Mutharika, John Momoh and others to receive 2016 African Achievers Awards

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by the richest man in the world, Mosima Gabriel "Tokyo" Sexwale; one of top ten successful Businessmen in South Africa and other revered accomplished Africans achievers will take turn to receive honours for their works and contributions towards the growth and advancement of the African Continent at the upcoming 6th edition of African Achievers Awards to be held at the International Conference Center in Abuja Nigeria on the 8th July, 2016 at 6pm prompt.

Recognised as the most prestigious honour for industrious African Visionaries and hosted for the past six years, Presidents of Malawi and Zambia; Peter Mutharika and Edgar Lungu are noted to be among high dignitaries who will be honouring the invitation to receive awards for the unprecedented contributions and legacies they have laid down for generations.

Other nominees include: John Momoh (Chairman, Channels TV), Johnson Arthur Sakaja (National Chairman of Ruling Party in Kenya), Mosima Gabriel (Former Minister, SA), Miss Angelle Kwemo (CEO, Rimsom Strategies), Nakedi Mathews Phosa (Politician, SA), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Hon Thapelo Olopeng (Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, Botswana).

The awards, which has been hosted in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom, have been received by other admired Africans such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the late former President of Ghana, John Evans Atta-Mills, John Fashanu, Platinumz Diamond, Dr Charles Dimnwaobi, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma etc.

Themed: “Securing a Stable Energy Future for Africa”, the event will be televised live on Channels TV and other media platforms and will witness a Panel Discussion to be moderated by Richard Mofe Damijo, Nigerian actor and politician and Solange Yijika, most celebrated Actress in Central Africa and the face of Cameroon International Film Festival.

The African Achievers Awards Ceremony is aimed at recognising excellent individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves while contributing to the growth and development of Africa.

The focus is to motivate all African leaders, including prospective leaders and the youth by recognising individuals and organisations that have contributed remarkably to the development of Africa.
